DMLT — the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology — is a professional qualification in laboratory science, and one the healthcare industry genuinely cannot function without. It prepares you to work in medical testing, including on CT, MRI and X-ray equipment.

The course sits within paramedical science and covers diagnosis and treatment using laboratory equipment. You build knowledge and technical ability across pathology, biochemistry, microbiology and haematology, learn to operate complex instruments, and qualify to work as a laboratory technician.

Why Choose DMLT

  • Medical laboratory technicians and technologists are central to how any healthcare system actually works
  • It is a growing field, and student intake has been rising with it
  • The job market keeps expanding, and so do the openings
  • It is a realistic route into medicine for students who find MBBS or similar programmes out of reach — without leaving the field

Entrance Exams

Requirements vary by university. Most ask for an English proficiency score; a few do not, and not every university accepts every test. Confirm before you book.

  • IELTS Academic — the most widely accepted test. Score requirements differ by university and country.
  • TOEFL iBT — available in internet-based and paper-based formats, and accepted almost as widely.
  • Duolingo English Test — accepted by only a handful of universities. Check with yours before taking it.
